Hartford Partners Robert Cassot and Cristin Sheehan recently obtained a significant appellate victory that reversed a rare trial defeat in a lawyer professional liability matter. In the underlying trial, the court found that our client was liable for vexatious litigation when it commenced a foreclosure action on a defective judgment. On appeal, the Appellate Court reversed the trial court and found, as had been argued at trial, that the client had probable cause for pursuing the action. The Appellate Court then reversed and remanded to the trial court with instructions to enter judgment for our clients.
