John is a partner in the Boston office of Morrison Mahoney.  He focuses his practice on construction, transportation, medical malpractice, premises liability, liquor liability, products liability, property claims, and tort liability. He is a trial lawyer who has handled well over 3,000 cases throughout his career. During that time, he has first chaired approximately 100 bench and jury trials, including catastrophic injury and wrongful death trials in both state and federal courts. He has also arbitrated and mediated approximately 500 cases.

John has been with the firm since 1995 and a partner since 2002. In addition to his extensive trial experience, John has experience handling appeals and has argued several appeals in the Massachusetts Court of Appeals and Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.

  • Defense verdict following week-long medical malpractice trial in Essex Superior Court involving a wrongful death action against a doctor
  • Defense verdict in wrongful death action premised upon failure of defendant to coordinate medical services after decedent suffered heart attack.
  • Defense verdict on behalf of general contractor in lawsuit arising out of construction accident involving fall at jobsite in Suffolk Superior Court
  • Defense verdict following two-week trial in Springfield Superior Court in case involving death of a pedestrian as a result of being struck by truck driver
  • Favorable verdict in Suffolk Superior Court in a case resulting from the collision of a public transit bus with a building in Revere
  • Defense verdict and successful appeal of wrongful death pedestrian action against leasing company
  • Successful appeal before Massachusetts SJC for retroactive application of statute eliminating interest in actions against MBTA.
  • Defense verdict in lawsuit involving the amputation of a plaintiff’s leg in accident involving a train.
  • Litigated numerous claims arising out of allergic reactions triggering medical emergencies
  • Favorable resolutions of thousands of lawsuits, including slip and falls, trip and falls, construction accidents, product liability claims, car, bus, truck and train accidents, dram shop claims, fire and explosion claims, medical malpractice claims and other general liability/premises liability cases.
