As an outgrowth of our core practice in the United States, we have been equally committed, for over 30 years, to servicing the London market in the representation of its interests in the United States, expanding over these years to include the needs and interests of Continental-based insurers and reinsurers. While expanding the scope of our practice for decades, Morrison Mahoney continues to specialize in the needs of the insurance industry. As an outgrowth of our core practice in the United States, we have been equally committed, for over 30 years, to servicing the London market in the representation of its interests in the United States, expanding over these years to include the needs and interests of Continental-based insurers and reinsurers.
The experience gained through these years of representation have taught us to recognize and remain sensitive to the unique needs of our non U.S. insurer market client: the need for early and accurate risk appraisal, the need for timely reporting, and the need to avoid the unwanted “surprise.” We appreciate that prompt and regular communication is ever more acute where the insurer is thousands of miles from a risk.
With this commitment in mind, we established our London liaison office in which a London Representative provides a continuous ongoing presence within the market. The office also serves as a base for our International Practice team of U.S. attorneys as they visit with our London and European clients. To achieve the partnering necessary to handle claims and coverage issues our office is intended to bridge the physical distance between our U.S.-based professionals and our international clients. By establishing this office, in our enlistment of a London based representative, combined with regular visits by our professionals to London and the continent, we have made the financial commitment to insure that the firm effectively narrows the geographical distance.
Our London and international market practice provides legal services in all of the firm’s practice areas with particular attention to casualty insurance, excess claims monitoring, first party property claims and coverage, policy drafting and risk analysis, and matters arising under both professional liability and marine insurances.
Sue Johnson, who has been associated with the firm for over 25 years, is a qualified barrister with previous experience in the handling of claims for market companies. Her goal is to provide quick access to our U.S. attorneys and link the market needs to the best professionals we have in our eleven Northeast regional offices.
